About the West Virginia Electronic Resources Consortium

Illustration of WVER projects and goals described belowWho We Are

The West Virginia Electronic Resources Consortium (WVER) is a cooperative of West Virginia libraries working together to benefit from expanded services, resources, and savings.

Participation is currently open to public and private nonprofit academic libraries, and we aspire to welcome public and K-12 libraries as we grow.

WVER launched as the Community & Technology College Library Consortium in 2017. Participating colleges saved 32% on their electronic resource subscriptions.

Our current projects and goals are outlined below. The more libraries that participate, the more every member will be able to benefit.

What We Do

Current Projects

  • Group Purchasing of materials to maximize savings and help meet citizen and student needs.
  • Open Educational Resources (OER) support to help state educators evaluate, adopt, and create open materials in order to reduce costs to students of West Virginia schools.

Goals

  • Professional Development to provide the training, workshops, and skill development that would ensure West Virginia libraries stay relevant.
  • Unified Search Technology that would allow West Virginians to easily find library materials statewide no matter where they live.
  • Regional Courier Service that would allow library networks in West Virginia to share physical materials.
  • Technology Support that allows libraries to provide the technology their communities need no matter their size.
