The West Virginia Humanities Council is a private, nonprofit organization providing lifelong learning opportunities to the state's citizens. In addition to the West Virginia Encyclopedia project, the Council publishes the quarterly newsletter People and Mountains, provides grant and fellowships, and presents programs for everyone interested in West Virginia history and life. WVHC serves as a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
