Federal Government Resources: FDLP at WVLC

FDLP at WVLC

The West Virginia Library Commission Reference Library was designated a selective Federal Depository Library in 1975. We are one of 13 selective depositories in the state. The state's regional depository library is located at WVU.

The primary mission of the WVLC Reference Library is to support the information needs of state government agencies and the reference needs of public and school libraries throughout the state. The Reference Library also serves as the contact point for government information for the constituents of the second U.S. Congressional District of West Virginia. Constituents are guaranteed free use of U.S. Government information in all formats in this library.

Currently the WVLC Reference Library selects 30% of available documents in the program, across several formats, including electronic, print, and microfilm. In order to better serve the informational needs of our patrons, we collect federal documents concerning the following areas: statistical information concerning West Virginia, neighboring states, the Appalachian Region, and national statistics; legislative and legal documents; federal research materials; consumer information and guides; and, general subjects of public interest, including U.S. military history.
